Wayzata-based Live Green, Live Smart Announces Snug House Design Wins Affordable Green Housing Award

Snug House by LOCUS Architecture of Minneapolis was announced as the winner of the Live Green, Live Smart Affordable Green Housing Competition. This remarkable 1300 sq. foot house is a wonderful design at a very low cost to the owners and the environment.

Live Green, Live Smart, LLC, an education and sustainable housing research organization announced today that LOCUS Architecture of Minneapolis has won the organization's first place award in their Affordable Green Housing Design Competition for a concept home called "Snug House".

This 1,300 square foot, 3-bed room home is designed to be built in a cold climate for around $130,000. It has the ability to achieve LEED platinum certification. Peter Yackel one of the designers on the team from LOCUS said they were very focused on keeping the cost per sq foot as close to $100 as possible and still achieve a high quality structure with a great deal of curb appeal.

Peter Lytle the founder and Executive Director of Live Green, Live Smart said in the organization's announcement that "LOCUS achieved a unique and viable solution to the complex problem of creating an affordable sustainable house and still keeping it livable and beautiful, all on a tight budget."
