Ultralingua announced today a major new release of its dictionary application for Macintosh OS X. Providing users with a dramatically improved experience, it includes powerful language learning tools (such as animated flashcards), extensive dictionary data, and tight integration with other applications. Ultralingua 7 is an all-in-one application for business, travel, translation, and education needs.

Ultralingua today announced the release of version 7, a major upgrade of its flagship dictionary application for Mac OS X. Ultralingua 7 (available both for definitions and for translation in many languages) delivers a dramatically new experience to users, providing topflight dictionary data in a powerful and attractive interface, including multiple tools for dictionary searches and language learning.

Optimized for Apple's new Leopard operating system, Ultralingua 7 is easy, efficient, and enjoyable to use. Handsomely styled text and layout provide a clear and appealing display of complex dictionary data, while custom-designed inline inspectors allow users to conjugate words and add entries with a single click. Seamlessly integrated dictionary "stemming" means that users don't need to worry about conjugations, plurals, or other inflected forms when searching for definitions and translations: Ultralingua finds the appropriate form automatically.

For language learning, Ultralingua 7 offers a powerful new integrated flashcards feature (using Apple's Core Animation technology), making study both fun and efficient. Other language tools include a verb conjugator, a number-to-text converter, extensive grammar references, and tight Internet integration for language forums and usage examples. Finally, Ultralingua integrates with the rest of Mac OS X through a Dashboard widget and a system-wide hotkey that defines and translates words in any application in a compact inline interface.

Ultralingua 7 is available for many languages, including English definitions and synonyms, as well as bilingual dictionaries for Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and more. Individual dictionaries are priced at $34.95; users may load multiple dictionaries in a single interface. (Site licenses and volume licenses are also available.)
