New Web Interface Automatically Alerts Users to Reduced Rates on Countries Called Most; Pingo Overcomes Cost "Surprises" of Mobile, Traditional and Prepaid Calling Card Services

There are no hidden fees or surcharges and no long-term contracts. Pingo is really focused on delivering easy savings on international calling for personal and business customers. With this upgrade, we've even simplified the task of taking advantage of special promotions by automatically alerting Pingo users to those offers that are most relevant to them.

Pingo® (http://www.pingo.com), the online calling service from iBasis (NASDAQ: IBAS), today announced an upgrade that includes an easier to navigate website and features giving consumers and businesses the ability to save more than ever on international calling. Because Pingo is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephony service operated by iBasis - one of the top three carriers of international calls in the world - it has significant economies of scale and can pass along dramatic savings on international calling to nearly every country. Mobile phone users in particular can save as much as 90 percent through Pingo, while users of traditional calling plans and prepaid calling cards can save money with Pingo's low international calling rates while benefiting from its many convenience features.

Pingo's upgrade includes an easier to navigate website, highlighted by a new RateWatcher feature. Customers view precise international calling rates from country-to-country, and a new "minutes tab" calculates the exact number of calling minutes available to a particular destination based on the Pingo user's account balance. And with Pingo, even a $5 account balance can translate into as much as 277 minutes of international calling time to London (1.8 cents per minute) and 227 minutes to Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2.2 cents per minute)*.

Pingo overcomes many of the problems associated with traditional calling plans and prepaid calling cards. Customers can buy low-cost "calling minutes" online on an as-needed basis without worrying about hidden fees, surcharges or any contractual obligations. Customers can use their existing fixed-line or mobile phone; no additional equipment purchases or software downloads are necessary. Pingo does charge a low account maintenance fee of just 98 cents per month. Pingo offers easy online account management and minutes can be purchased with credit/debit cards and PayPal. Subscribers can also pay in four currencies, compare rates in more than 38 others, and interact with automated phone voice prompts in a variety of languages including Chinese, English, French, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian.

To help customers take advantage of breaking rate reductions on international calling - including Pingo Happy Hours and Happy Days offering additional savings of up to 50 percent - customers now receive automatic customized email alerts notifying them on special savings to the countries they call most. Also, when customers log into their Pingo accounts they are automatically alerted about rate reductions to their most popular international calling destinations.

Other features of Pingo service include:

  • Automatic Account Recharge: Customer accounts can be set to automatically recharge when minutes are running low. An interactive voice response system also alerts customers of low balances, and by simply pushing the * key, funds can be replenished;
  • Fast Speed Dialing/PIN-Less Dialing: For easy calling, Pingo customers can call local access numbers and use speed dial to quickly connect. Pingo's PINpass feature even eliminates the need to enter a PIN number;
  • Easy Account Management: Starting a Pingo account takes seconds, and with features such as history reporting and online management, phone budgets are easy to control;
  • Additional Savings: New subscribers to Pingo get an additional $5 credit. Customers also get free minutes for referring friends to the service.

"Pingo offers frequent international callers a simple and straightforward way to save money," said Jayesh Patel, vice president of business development and strategy for iBasis.
