QHR Hospital Clients Receive Quality Awards Idaho Hospitals Honored for Focus on Patient Safety, Improved Clinical Outcomes

QHR hospital clients Steele Memorial Medical Center in Salmon, Idaho, and Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg, Idaho, were two of only four hospitals named top-performing hospitals in Blue Cross of Idaho's Hospital Quality Incentive Program; 30 hospitals participate in the program statewide.

Brentwood, Tenn. (PRWEB) May 14, 2008 -- QHR President and CEO James L. Horrar today recognized two of the company's Management Services hospital clients for being named winners in Blue Cross of Idaho's 2007 Hospital Quality Awards. Steele Memorial Medical Center in Salmon and Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg were two of only four hospitals named top-performing hospitals in Blue Cross of Idaho's Hospital Quality Incentive Program; 30 hospitals participate in the program statewide.

"Both Steele Memorial Medical Center and Shoshone Medical Center are committed to providing quality healthcare in the communities they serve. To this end, the hospitals strive to improve processes and, in turn, outcomes on a daily basis," Horrar said. "QHR is proud of their accomplishments in these areas and honored to be their partner in strategic, operational and financial management."

According to Blue Cross of Idaho, the Hospital Quality Incentive Program, developed in collaboration with Idaho hospitals and the Idaho Hospital Association, measures patient safety and improved clinical outcomes, and rewards hospitals based on their results. The program evaluates several criteria, including the implementation of evidence-based measures known to improve health outcomes in treating pneumonia, heart attack, congestive heart failure and diabetes. The program also evaluates and promotes patient safety by monitoring infections and surgical complications.

"Steele Memorial is thriving," said Victoria Alexander, CEO of Steele Memorial Medical Center, which received the Award of Achievement in the Rural Hospital division. "We couldn't have done this without the wonderful relationships we have with both our physician leadership and QHR. QHR's continuing education programs were the building blocks for this success."

"Shoshone Medical Center is always looking for new ways to improve processes so as to better serve both our patients and staff," said Carol Hutchins, CNO of Shoshone Medical Center, winner of the Rural Hospital division's Award of Merit. "With QHR's assistance, we have made great strides in our quality initiatives."
