Aladdin Beauty College Steps Up in Big Way to Support Fight Against Breast Cancer

Aladdin Beauty College, 8151 Camp Bowie West in Fort Worth stepped up in a major way to support the Brush with Greatness event, a fundraiser designed to help fight and prevent breast cancer.

Fort Worth, Texas (PRWEB) May 14, 2008 - Aladdin Beauty College, 8151 Camp Bowie West in Fort Worth stepped up in a major way to support the Brush with Greatness event, a fundraiser designed to help fight and prevent breast cancer.

The event, held at Ridgmar Mall, 1888 Green Oaks Road in Fort Worth, included a call for donations of used beauty supplies. Customers were asked to volunteer their time to assemble wellness bags for area women facing cancer, as well as donate their old lipsticks, eye shadows, eye liners and other colorful beauty products so they could be used by Artist Rebecca Low to create a life-size, joyous, freestanding sculpture at the corporate office of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure facility in Tarrant County, Texas.

Aladdin Beauty College's corporate office donated 600 gift bags containing Peter Hantz Products ShaMoya Shampoo, Intensive Conditioner and Briese Hairspray to give to the women who volunteered their time to assemble the wellness bags, as well as donated their old beauty supplies. The cosmetology school also gave away three, $5,000 scholarships and one full tuition waiver valued at more than $13,000. The winners of the scholarships are Alida Fitzgerald (full scholarship), Claudia Jones ($5.000), Natalee Tyson($5.000), Shelly Miller($5.000). Five students from the school; Andrea Petersen, Vincent Silmon, Veronica Vargas, Adriana Ortiz, Drae Sparks-West worked several hours and performed approximately 25 free manicures at the event.

"The students and staff at Aladdin Beauty College recognize the importance of helping others, whether it's a special event to fight breast cancer, or something on a professional level, such as helping a patron look and feel their best," said Cathy Young who is the director of both the Fort Worth school and the ITS Academy College of Hair at 793 E. Park Row in Arlington. "We are very proud of the students who were involved in the event and very appreciative of our corporate office for their generous support. When we work together to help others it truly is a beautiful thing."
