BIRDVIEW Technologies Sees Surge In On-line Home Buyer Activity

Real estate website activities surge in Q1 2008.

Lombard, IL (PRWEB) May 14, 2008 -- BIRDVIEW's proprietary Real Estate Activity (REA) Index, a measure of home buyer activity gathered across a network of real estate brokerage and agent websites has surged decisively upwards thus far in 2008.

The sustained upswing we've seen so far this year at the very least signals that buyer interest has returned to the marketplace at levels seen during the boom years. Buyer demand is not necessarily indicative of increased transactions, but it's certainly a necessary ingredient in finding a bottom to the present downturn
BIRDVIEW's REA Index had shown strong activity in the first half of 2007, but the dramatic effects of the mortgage crisis this past August gave way to an unprecedented contraction in on-line home buyer activity that remained through December 2007. "The sustained upswing we've seen so far this year at the very least signals that buyer interest has returned to the marketplace at levels seen during the boom years. Buyer demand is not necessarily indicative of increased transactions, but it's certainly a necessary ingredient in finding a bottom to the present downturn," said Bedros Bedrosian, President and Co-founder of BIRDVIEW Technologies.

With more then 80% of home buyers now turning to the Internet, according to the National Association of Realtors, the Internet has become an important predictor of housing market conditions. Each month, BIRDVIEW measures online activity representing some 2 million consumers across the country. BIRDVIEW subsequently publishes a quarterly newsletter to report on this activity, which is customized for each of its brokerage clients. The customized newsletter compares monthly consumer activity for each client's web site to median activity throughout BIRDVIEW's national client base.
