Demeter's Pantry Expands it Representation of Astrikas Estate Biolea Organic Certified Stone Ground PDO Extra Virgin Olive Oils with its Newest Offering, Neranzi Oil, Pressed Bitter Orange

The Success of Biolea's Lemon oil has lead to its newest offering-Neranzi oil, made from Bitter Oranges stoned ground with Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, available through Greek Importer Demeter's Pantry

(PRWEB) May 15, 2008 -- Biolea Organic Stone Ground PDO Extra Virgin Olive Oil was ranked number four in Food & Wine Magazine's 100 Must Tastes for 2007. Biolea is a superbly balanced stone milled and cold pressed organic olive oil from 100% Koreneiki estate olives, produced with arid agriculture techniques resulting in trees with much lower annual yield but intense flavor and high concentration of nutrients. Biolea Lemon Oil and Bitter Orange Oil are not flavored oils. They are made by pressing together olives and whole estate lemons and whole Neranzi- Bitter Oranges together.

Biolea's Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Lemon Oil and Bitter Orange Oil are carefully crafted in the artisan tradition, committed to maintaining a slower and healthier method of food production, combined with modern methods of organic cultivation. Stone milling produces an exceptional quality olive oil because the pressed olives and oil remain at ambient temperature below 27°C throughout the process and no hot water is added during the extraction of the oil. Adding hot water to wash out the pressed olives is a common practice that washes out water soluble natural antioxidants and nutrients. Slow milling retains the aromatic properties of the oil.

Many food lovers and experts have written about Biolea, such as Judy Ridgway in her book, Best Olive Oil Buys around the World; "Intensely herbaceous aromas with grassy apples and lettuce leaves followed through to a complex flavor of mixed salad greens. This is followed by light bitterness and a good burst of pepper. Herby sorrel tones return on the long aftertaste."

David Rosengarten is also an enthusiast of Biolea, remarking ""We tasted brilliant organic olive oil from Crete; Biolea's lemon extra-virgin is the first flavored olive oil I've ever loved" Biolea's Organic Stone Milled Olive and Lemon Oil consists of Koroneiki olives harvested from Astrikas estate olive groves, stone milled & cold pressed together with local grown fresh lemons. This fabulous oil explodes with lemon zest aroma and a lasting aftertaste of freshly crushed lemons.

Biolea's Neranzi, Bitter Orange oil has a very complex envelopment on the palate. It is particularly well suited for marinades with meat and on vegetables.

Maria Kardamaki Robertson and Esther Luongo Psarakis, owners of Demeter's Pantry visited the Astrikas estate in Crete, an ecological prototype farm cultivated by 5th generation founding partners, George Dimitriadis and Christine Lacroix. "Biolea is pioneering a renewed interest in traditional stone ground olive oil extraction and is dedicated to creating outstanding products" states Maria Kardamaki " Our philosophies are similar since we support the preservation of traditional methods of production and one of our key missions is to bring authentic artisan Greek tastes to the American consumer" Esther Psarakis adds "We are looking forward to introducing Biolea's Neranzi Bitter Orange oil at this year's the New York Fancy Food Show. At last year's show, those who tasted the Biolea oils were amazed by their exquisite aroma and complex flavor".
