That's a great idea for a movie

Stand up comedian Jerry Seinfeld tells Marshall Julius at Blockbuster.co.uk how a throwaway remark to Steven Spielberg resulted in him writing and starring in his own Bee Movie.
Jerry Seinfeld admits to a fondness for cartoons and bees. During lunch with Steven Spielberg he ruminated on how he could bring the two interests together and made a casual remark that Bee Movie would be a funny title for a movie about bees, which provoked a comment of "That's a great idea for a movie".
Offered the opportunity to write and star in a digitally animated masterpiece of his very own, Jerry eventually agreed to do the work, and threw himself into a perilous research process.
To try to understand what goes on in the mind of a bee he visited a beehive to see for himself. This proved to be a story in itself as Seinfeld tells a tale of harmonious bees turning to irritated bees followed by a hasty sprint across a field while swatting at bees with his hat. A good story worth a sting or two …….
Bee Movie is a comedy that will change everything you think you know about bees. Having just graduated from college, a bee by the name of Barry B .Benson (Jerry Seinfeld) finds himself disillusioned with the prospect of having only one career choice - honey. He breaks one of the cardinal rules of the bee world and talks to a human, a florist played by Renee Zellweger, and ends up suing humanity for eating honey.
Bee Movie turned into a labour of love for Seinfeld, who obsessed over every line. So much so, that even after completing the film, he still wasn't completely satisfied.
"I'm changing a line for the DVD," he says. "Then I'll be happy". He won't say what line he has changed except that it should be known as The Special Jerry Seinfeld Cut.
Bee Movie is now available on DVD and has been added to Blockbuster's huge range of family and comedy DVDs and is available for DVD rental.
