Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) May 18, 2008 -
The John Roberts Company, an industry leader in color management, recently hosted an interactive seminar on Sustainability in Print featuring environmental expert Don Carli.
Carli, a Senior Research Fellow with the nonprofit Institute for Sustainable Communication where he serves as director of The Sustainable Advertising Partnership, discussed how sustainable print media choices can address the challenges of climate change and energy security as well as the economic, environmental and social goals of sustainability.
Attendees registered online in advance for the highly informative session that also covered how print and media professionals can and should respond to the challenges of sustainability.
"Events like this help spread the word about these vital issues," says Michael Keene, President of The John Roberts Company. "We're all concerned about how our industry impacts the environment and what's needed to meet these challenges."
This seminar further demonstrates John Roberts' ongoing dedication to environmental stewardship on several fronts which includes FSC Chain-of-Custody certification, the use of soy-based inks and the exploration of alternative energy sources.
At John Roberts, their environmental initiatives are closely tied to their business objectives. In 2007, the company conducted an independent scientific study to determine the carbon footprint of its own business activities. John Roberts achieved carbon neutral status through its extensive environmental management system to recycle materials that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill.
"We are deeply committed to managing our operation in an eco-friendly manner," says Keene. "We're proud of this accomplishment in sustaining responsible environmental stewardship."
