Jackson, Mississippi (PRWEB) May 19, 2008
Points of Origin, by Mississippi obstetrician/gynecologist Darden North, MD, has been named a Finalist in the Mystery/Suspense category of the 2008 Next Generation Indie Book Awards according to C. Goulet, Awards Administrator.
This is the second international award for Points of Origin. The novel was previously recognized in southern fiction by the 2007 Independent Publishers Book Awards.
Points of Origin is set in a charming, but greedy, Mississippi town. The plot centers on the death of a 19-year-old patient in the hands of Dr. Dan Foxworth, which costs him his reputation, his fortune, his plastic surgery dynasty, and ultimately his own life. Still reeling from the tragedy, Foxworth's son, Sher, breaks with family medical tradition and becomes a fireman. His new occupation pits him against an arsonist hired to torch the mansion of the malpractice attorney who ruined Sher's father. When the attorney's house explodes in flames, the origin of the fire does not rest with the arsonist alone. In Points of Origin Sher Foxworth seeks to avenge the destruction of his family as he struggles against his own inadequacies.
The Indie Book Awards were established to recognize and honor the most exceptional independently published books in 70 different categories for the year and is presented by the Independent Book Publishing Professionals Group in cooperation with Marilyn Allen of Allen O'Shea Literary Agency.
Author Darden North's achievement will be published at http://www.IndieBookAwards.com along with the other Finalists. Additionally, Points or Origin will be listed as a Finalist in the 2008 Next Generation Indie Book Awards catalog which will be distributed at Book Expo America in Los Angeles. The Indie Book Awards is open to all national and international publishers in the English language.
