Montreal, Canada (PRWEB) May 19, 2008 -- HaiVision Systems Inc., the world's leading vendor of performance H.264 network video codecs, today announces both a new firmware release for the OSCAR H.264 encoder and a price reduction of the OSCAR to $1,995. The firmware release takes advantage of significant optimization of the OSCAR's processors to deliver twice the performance at full video (SD/D1) resolution yielding excellent full frame rate full resolution video at bit rates up to 1.5 Mbps.
The OSCAR is an extremely compact stand alone video encoder appliance that uses the H.264 standard to efficiently compress audio video signals for delivery over IP networks. The OSCAR's fanless design is ideal for on site encoding challenges.
The OSCAR can directly stream network video to QuickTime or Flash environments, or directly to OSCAR decoders for point to point applications.
The OSCAR is supported by the award-winning Wowza Media Server™ Pro platform to provide fast, economical, and efficient live Flash® H.264 content delivery. For example, an educational institution can equip classrooms with low cost OSCAR encoders and fuel a complete Flash based media distribution infrastructure.
From a QuickTime player users can simply insert the OSCAR's RTSP address and pull the video directly to their desktop. The OSCAR supports 10 direct streams (depending on bandwidth), with further distribution loads easily accommodated through a QuickTime Streaming Server or Darwin server.
