Quadros Systems, Inc., a leading provider of real-time operating systems (RTOS), today announced support for the STM32 family of 32-bit Flash microcontrollers (MCUs) from STMicroelectronics. Developers now have the opportunity to combine the efficiency, flexibility and scalability of Quadros' RTXC family with the high performance, quick-time-to-market STM32 family. This combination of software and hardware brings new degrees of freedom to the MCU market because it offers the best of both worlds for designers choosing between a 16-bit and 32-bit solution.

They are enthusiastic about the price/performance advantages of this new family of products.

Quadros offers a broad range of embedded software solutions including RTOS, design tools, 10/100 Ethernet software, USB stacks and file systems. Known for its efficiency, high performance and small footprint, the RTXC family of solutions from Quadros provides an easy-to-use, flexible solution for developers who decide to use the STM32 platform.

The new STM32 family is based on the 32-bit ARM® Cortex™-M3 core, developed specifically for embedded applications requiring a combination of high performance, low power and low cost. Performance and energy efficiency are coupled with full integration and ease of development to create an ideal platform for migration to 32-bit MCUs. The STM32 family is well-suited for applications such as home appliances, industrial automation, card readers, biometrics, and also in portable applications where low power consumption is important.

"Quadros Systems offers a unique combination of high performance and small memory footprint," said Semir Haddad, STMicroelectronics' 32-bit MCU marketing manager. "With the RTXC family from Quadros Systems our customers can take full advantage of the STM32 features with no compromises in performance."

"The STM32 introduction has created a lot of excitement with our customers," said Stephen Martin, vice president of sales and marketing at Quadros Systems. "They are enthusiastic about the price/performance advantages of this new family of products."

Quadros Systems' customers using the STM32 family can select the embedded development tool that best fits their needs. RTXC products are available with support for the IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM (EWARM) and the RealView Microcontroller Development Kit (MDK-ARM) from Keil.

About the RTXC Quadros Family of Real-time Operating Systems
The RTXC Quadros family is comprised of four kernel architectures offering distinct performance advantages for each of the major processing models. RTXC/ss (single stack) utilizes a lightweight specialized executive to support high data rate and signal processing applications. RTXC/ms (multi-stack) is optimized for control processing using an event-driven, prioritized, preemptive scheduler. RTXC/dm (dual mode) marries RTXC/ms and RTXC/ss and is ideal for convergent processing applications which combine DSP/dataflow and RISC/control processing in a single-core processor. Both RTXC/ms and RTXC/dm are brought together under RTXC/mp (multiprocessing) in various combinations to support multi-core and multiprocessor implementations.
