Don Collette, author of "Sermonsnacks: Help, Hope and Encouragement for Today," has just received word that his Christian collection was chosen as a National Indie Excellence 2008 Book Awards finalist in the religion category. This distinction solidly positions the book among the top seven of all entries.

The National Indie Excellence 2008 Book Awards have just been announced, and "Sermonsnacks: Help, Hope and Encouragement for Today" has been chosen as a finalist in the religion category. Just six finalists and one winner were honored with this Indie Excellence distinction. Formal announcement of the awards will be made at the 2008 Book Expo America, which is slated for May 29 through June 1 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Publishers, buyers and readers who would like to learn more about what earned "Sermonsnacks" its elite recognition can do so online at http://www.SermonSnacks.com.

Dedicated to celebrating and promoting the outstanding work of independent publishers and authors, the National Indie Excellence Book Awards recognize the best of the best in independently published, self published and small press books. With more and more books falling into one of these publishing categories, being bestowed with one of these awards is an honor indeed.

According to Bowker, the exclusive U.S. ISBN and SAN Agency, "U.S. title output in 2006 increased by more than 3 percent to 291,920 new titles and editions, up from the 282,500 published in 2005." PMA, the Independent Book Publishers Association, estimates that 78 percent of those titles came from small/self-publishers.

Religious books in particular are helping to fuel these growth trends. In "Publishers Weekly's" August 4, 2003 edition, the Christian Booksellers Association reported that Christian book sales hit $4.2 billion in 2002, up from $4 billion in 2000. With so much competition in its genre, "Sermonsnacks" is especially proud to have been lauded as a National Indie Excellence 2008 religion book award finalist.

"Sermonsnacks" author, Don Collette, explains, "They [the National Indie Book Awards] named only one winner and six finalists in our category. So it is a noteworthy achievement for both me and my publishing company, Sermonsnacks.com." Along with bragging rights, "Sermonsnacks'" status as a National Indie Excellence 2008 Book Awards finalist earns it prominent placement at this year's Book Expo America in the New Title Showcase.

Book Expo America combines the largest selection of English language titles on the planet with special industry and author events. It also provides unparalleled educational content to create a dynamic environment for networking, sourcing and relationship building. Publishers, buyers and readers of Christian books can look for "Sermonsnacks" in the Expo's New Title Showcase section.
