Backgammon Masters Second Life Linden Currency Test Fails with Players
The online backgammon site BackgammonMasters.com did a survey of 500 of its players that were not from the US. Only 2 expressed any interesting in using the Linden to play online backgammon.
(PRWEB) May 22, 2008 -- The online backgammon site http://www.BackgammonMasters.com did a survey of 500 of its players that were not from the US. This survey asked players whether they would be interested in using the Second Life virtual currency "Linden" on the BackgammonMasters site. The results of the survey revealed that only 20 players out of the 500 surveyed had even heard of the Linden. Only 2 out of these 20 expressed any interesting in using the Linden to play at BackgammonMasters.
The site even offered those that were surveyed the possibility of exchanging Linden currency winnings for real currencies during the cash out process. Real life currencies offered included the USD, GBP, Euro, CND, Australian Dollar, Czech Koruna, Hong Kong Dollar, Japanese Yen, Hungarian Forint, Norwegian Krone, Polish Zloty, New Zealand Dollar, Singapore Dollar, Swiss Franc, Swedish Krona and South African Rand. All of these currencies are currently accepted in the BackgammonMasters cashier. However, players were not receptive to the idea, stating that they prefer to play in US Dollars, GBP and Euros.
The International players surveyed reported that playing for real currencies at BackgammonMasters was a great deal more exciting than playing with Lindens and that they would prefer to continue playing with non-virtual currency.
BackgammonMasters currently offers automatic conversions for a variety of currencies with no commission. In the past, these conversions were costly and time consuming. However, presently customers no longer have to worry about costly fees for currency conversion and they can easily deposit and withdrawal money for online gaming in their own native currencies. BackgammonMasters currently converts foreign deposits into US currency and players can play Backgammon, Poker, Perudo and Blackjack games.
