(PRWEB) May 27, 2008 -- Mehera Shaw announces the opening of their Minneapolis boutique in the Kenwood area of the Twin Cities at 2004 Hennepin (corner of Hennepin and Franklin) by early June. Mehera Shaw is part of a growing trend of artisan-style, small businesses that develop a high quality product on a smaller scale and tailor it to local customer needs. Owned by Shari and Mark Keller, it is an independent fashion house known for its decidedly feminine style as well as for its fair made and ecologically positive standards of production. Shari designs upmarket, feminine styles for the woman who loves beauty, color, and a bit of Eastern mystique: a colorful "Spice Chic." Styles range from sophisticated casual wear to East-West fusion ensembles, incorporating many couture printing and stitching techniques--all in natural fibers.

Since beginning Mehera Shaw in 1999, Shari and Mark have created a vertical business which links their shops in America with their production studio and shop in Jaipur, India. They specialize in fine cottons and artisan-crafted, hand block prints from the Jaipur region of Rajasthan, India. They work directly with the artisans and with their own staff to tailor collections for each specific market. By maintaining their own production studio, they are also able to ensure fair wages and good working conditions.

Stemming from this small-scale production and hand printed textiles, Shari has developed a decidedly feminine look. It is an unabashedly happy and sophisticated casual look that transitions across work, home and socializing. "Our clothes are for real women who lead real lives." She points out, "Our look has always been about true femininity, because I think women really want exactly that--to be truly feminine on their own terms, in a way they are comfortable with. Addressing the enduring quality of the feminine really is the key to making the ethical fashion movement more than a trend--to making it a sustainable way of life." Mehera Shaw clothing is intentionally affordable. Blouses range from $50-$100. Pants and skirts start at $74 on up to $150. Dresses go for $110-$170.

The Minneapolis location will be Mehera Shaw's third retail boutique, following shops in Chapel Hill, NC and in Jaipur, India. Shari and Mark are from Minneapolis and still maintain close ties to the city. They, and their three children, now split their time between Chapel Hill and Jaipur, India.
