Keystone Residence and the Steelton Borough have partnered to launch the inaugural Hot & Spicy International Festival, a free, block party-style celebration of summer fun and community in Steelton, PA. From noon until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 7th, North Front Street in Steelton will be bright and lively with live music, regional craft fare and delicious treats from area restaurants, caterers and specialty food merchants. The festival will feature two stages of entertainment courtesy of regional musicians and performers, including local favorite party band Green Eggs. This fun and family-friendly afternoon benefits the work of Keystone Residence, an agency of Keystone Human Services.

From noon until 4:30 p.m., the block will be bustling with family-friendly activities and entertainment to benefit the invaluable work of Keystone Residence.

From outdoor concerts and neighborhood block parties to casual weekend barbecues, the easygoing entertainment of summer's longer days and warmer nights are a welcome respite from your weekdays and workdays - and the Hot & Spicy International Festival is a wonderful way to turn up the heat on your summer festivities! Kicking off at noon, the festival will feature two stages of entertainment courtesy of some of the region's favorite local musicians and performers. Headlining the event will be Green Eggs, whose funky setlist of popular covers has made them one of the area's favorite party bands.

Featuring booths from restaurants, caterers, specialty food merchants and other culinary organizations, as well as offerings from local artisans and original gift vendors, the Hot & Spicy International Festival is also a wonderful opportunity to get to know community craftspeople and culinary connoisseurs. Cultivate your own culinary skills at interactive events like the pizza spinning contest, and vote on your favorite spicy dish in the "People's Choice" salsa competition. The Hot & Spicy International Festival also includes activities for the whole family, including a Children's Corner and Children's Parade. To get an early start on the day's community celebration, sign up for the June 7th Walk for a Healthy Community, a benefit walk sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield. Susquehanna Service Dogs, a program of Keystone Children & Family Services, is one of 26 local nonprofit health and human services organizations benefitting from this fun morning fundraiser. Sign-ups for the Walk for a Healthy Community begin at 7:45 a.m. on City Island in Harrisburg, PA, and the 5K walk begins at 9:00 a.m., with a One-Mile Fun Walk at 9:15 a.m. Registration is free, but all walkers are encouraged to raise support for their organization - 100% of the support raised for Susquehanna Service Dogs and other participating programs goes directly to the programs. Emphasizing the importance of natural supports, individuality, respect and choice, Keystone Residence supports individuals with intellectual disabilities as they cultivate life skills and develop meaningful relationships in a variety of settings, ranging from individual, private homes to agency-owned homes. Keystone Children & Family Services' Susquehanna Service Dogs provides service and therapy dogs to individuals with disabilities, helping them live fuller and more independent lives. Both Keystone Residence and Keystone Children & Family Services are agencies of Keystone Human Services (KHS), which provides support for individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities and those experiencing mental illness, as well as children and family services and support for the elderly to live independently in their home.
