Mexpro.com was launched over seven years ago and has seen substantial quarterly growth year after year. Over the first four months of 2008, however, visitor traffic and insurance sales were flat. In fact, visitation to Mexico in 2008 has decreased by almost 10% according to some Mexican Government estimates.
"We were preparing for a slower year, but earlier this month we started to see an unanticipated increase in traffic", says Pedro Dominguez, Sales Manager of Mexpro's parent company International Insurance Group, Inc. (IIG) (iigins.com). "About 50% of our customers are vacationers who visit places like Rocky Point and Baja. The other 50% are Hispanic families who visit relatives in Mexico during summer vacation. Earlier this month, we began seeing a lot of web traffic and receiving a higher than usual call volume from each of these demographics."
Nate Watson, General Manager of IIG added, "Apparently, in spite of higher gas prices, many consumers are using their Economic Stimulus checks to continue their annual traditions of vacationing in Mexico or bringing their family to visit relatives during the Summer Break."
