Micronized Itraconazole: Another Topical Choice for Fungal Sinus Infections

With many companies searching for the perfect solution for patients with Chronic Sinusitis, ASL Pharmacy is proposing an alternative medication choice for patients with fungus infections of the sinuses: Micronized Itraconazole delivered topically via nasal nebulization.

Camarillo, CA (PRWEB) May 26, 2008 -- ASL Pharmacy's Sinus Science program has observed positive results utilizing Itraconazole as an alternative to Amphotericin B for treating Allergic Fungal Sinus Infections. The benefits of our micronized formula may also be enhanced when proceeded by a corticosteroid.

1.Itraconazole Micronized Formulation
a)Our aerosolized suspension contains 40mg Itraconazole per 4ml volume (0.9% NaCl base)
b)Viable alternative when Amphotericin B is not covered by insurance or desired results are not achieved
c)Sealed in unit dose vials lab tested for 60 day stability
d)Minimal side effects: aerosolized Itraconazole is generally more tolerable than Amphotericin B
e)May be prepared with a surfactant ingredient

2.Dual Sequential Therapy
a)Sequential use of Mometasone or Betamethasone followed by Itraconazole appears to increase medication deposition and improve patient outcomes
b)Biofilm: ASL is currently compounding specific ingredients to be administered prior to an antibiotic (or antifungal) for the reduction of biofilm. Call for more details.

ASL's Sinus Science™ staff appreciates the opportunity to work with you and your patients. Please call to discuss your specific patient case with one of our pharmacists at 866-552-7579.
