National Museum of Dance Resident Photographer Mark Andrew Creates Image of Peter Martins, Renowned Ballet Master in Chief of New York City Ballet, for his upcoming Smoke & Mirrors Exhibition

This work conveys Martins' sophisticated nature united with the elegant mystique behind the illusions of smoke and mirrors.

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 27, 2008 -- The National Museum of Dance presents the new collaboration of resident photographer, Mark Andrew, and renowned Ballet Master in Chief of New York City Ballet, Peter Martins. Andrews photographed Martins on April 11, 2008, and will be adding this work to his "Smoke & Mirrors" exhibit that will be displayed at the National Museum of Dance this upcoming summer.

The National Museum of Dance will be inducting Martins into their Dance Hall of Fame on July 14, 2008, where Martins will be honored along side of other famous contributors to the dance world such as Martha Graham, George Balanchine, Alvin Ailey, and Paul Taylor.

This work conveys Martins' sophisticated nature united with the elegant mystique behind the illusions of smoke and mirrors. The "Smoke & Mirrors" exhibit will premier alongside of Andrew's other exhibit, "STEEL: the physique of a dancer," at the National Museum of Dance on June 6th, from 6 - 8 pm, during which the museum will proudly host performances by professional dancers from Martha Graham, New York Institute of Dance and Education, and Paul Taylor.

Lloyd Knight, principal Martha Graham dancer and featured dancer in the "Steel," exhibit, and Jacqueline Bulnes, another principal Martha Graham dancer, appearing in "Smoke & Mirrors," will perform a duet, representing the style and company of Martha Graham.

Principal Paul Taylor dancer, Jamie Rae Walker, featured in "Smoke & Mirrors," will perform, representing the Paul Taylor Dance Company. Sean McLeod, International Artistic Ambassador, president of the New York Institute of Dance and Education, artistic director of Kaleidoscope Dance Theater, producer, and choreographer, will be performing with his son, Jerami Kipp.

These renowned world-class dancers will extend their appreciation of working with Andrew, by honoring him with a performance at the opening night of his two exhibits, and bringing to life the raw emotion, strength and passion triggered by Andrew's skill as a photographer. This evening will be a truly unique experience, filled with wine, good company, photography, and performances.

All are welcome to attend.

Tickets purchased in advance are $10 and $20 at the door.
Reservations can be made by calling the museum at 518.584.2225
The exhibits will be featured from June until August at the National Museum of Dance, 99 South Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY.
