The table compares nine major airlines and highlights any extra expenses, providing additional information for passengers travelling with children and forms part of the company's extensive 'Know Before You Go' section.
British Airways proved themselves to be particularly child-friendly, offering a new family online check-in as well as no charge to travel with a pushchair and car seat. In addition they also offer infants a baggage allowance of 23kg. Ryanair on the other hand is the only airline to charge an additional £4.00 per person to check-in at the airport along with an extra £6.00 to check-in a car seat. BMI, XL Airways, First Choice, Thomas Cook and Thomsonfly airlines do not offer an online check-in service for families.
Research also found that all the airlines, with the exception of Ryanair and Easyjet, can provide children's meals at no additional cost; however these need to be ordered in advance.
