"Stinky Feet" continues to be a good thing for singer-songwriter, Lanny Sherwin of Santa Barbara, CA. The irreverent and irresistible song from Sherwin's new "I Like Being Me!" children's CD - has been voted "BEST CHILDREN'S SONG" in the Vox Populi of the Independent Music Awards (IMA).
Each year, the IMA assembles a panel of judges to determine the Winners & Finalists of the Independent Music Awards. Recognizing that ultimately it's the voice/choice of the people that matters most to an artist's career, the IMA Vox Populi poll was added in 2006 to allow music fans to pick their favorites.
This year, over 37,000 votes from around the world were cast in the "people's choice" component of the IMAs, and the "Fans of Lan," as Sherwin calls his faithful customers, put his song over the top.
"I guess you could say when it comes to "Stinky Feet", I'm still Number #1," says Sherwin. The song has won 4 children's music awards, and the "I Like Being Me!" CD has accumulated 9 awards. The CD is geared towards 4 - 9 year olds and addresses such topics as acknowledging the differences in people, needing to be alone, respecting the environment, and, uh, odoriferous tootsies.
Sherwin is President of his own children's record label, Sandman Records, and has written and produced 4 children's CDs which have been honored with over 30 awards. The reason for Sherwin's success? "I always point people back to our motto," say Sherwin. "'Don't Drive Parents Crazy' pretty much sums up where I'm coming from when I write and produce music."
To celebrate his recent award, Sherwin has created a free Sweepstakes drawing on his website. Anyone who signs up for his quarterly "Snoozeletter" will automatically be entered into a drawing for a Borders Books Gift Certificate. Borders is one of the many outlets which carries Sherwin's CDs.
"I Like Being Me!" is available nationwide including Borders, Amazon, iTunes, and the Sandman Records website (http://www.SandmanRecords.net). Sandman Records has been creating children's music since 2001. A portion of Sandman Record's proceeds benefits the Spina Bifida Association of America, numerous preschools, hospitals and children's fundraisers nationwide.
"Yep," says Sherwin. "Of all the honors that Sandman Records has won, this is definitely smells the sweetest!"
