After Natural Disasters Strike Myanmar and China, Frequent Flyer Programs Encourage Members To Donate

Frequent travelers interested in contributing to the relief efforts currently underway in Myanmar and China need look no further than to see what their frequent travel programs are doing and how they can help.

Since 2001, MileDonor has reported on charitable efforts related to the frequent travel industry and has provided a means by which those who have earned miles and points are able to find and donate travel to organizations and individuals who are seeking to perform charitable work, or who need assistance. To increase donations toward the relief efforts currently underway in Myanmar and China, the United Mileage Plus and Hilton HHonors frequent travel programs are the first to encourage members to pitch in. United Mileage Plus is offering members who donate $50 or more to the China Earthquake Relief Fund through the American Red Cross a one-time bonus of 500 miles. HHonors members can donate points to a general International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) fund or a South Asia fund. For every 10,000 points a member donates, Hilton HHonors will contribute $25.
