The Retail Management Advisors (TRMA) now offers peer teleconference advisory groups for independent retailers.
Most independent retailers feel isolated and have no one to turn to when problems or concerns arise. Usually only another similar retailer truly understands these issues. Until now the only options available for help were joining retailer groups that meet 1 or more days in another location or briefly talk to other store owners while shopping at market. When the owner is the main, or only, salesperson, leaving the store for several days to attend an out-of-town meeting, not to mention the ever-increasing cost of travel, is not an option. Talking to other retailers at market may help some but does not provide the in-depth discussion needed. Independent retailers have a new choice when seeking help. In response to growing demands, The Retail Management Advisors (TRMA) now offers reasonably priced peer teleconference advisory groups, called Tele-SWAP groups.
The workings of Tele-SWAP groups are simple, the benefits great. TRMA's Tele-SWAP groups allow retailers to talk with others to learn how to improve their business without having to leave their store. Each group of retailers meets monthly for a one-hour teleconference. Members talk about whatever challenge or issue they have at the moment. Through the discussion, store owners receive new ideas to try in their store, knowing these ideas worked in other similar stores. Each type of retail store possesses its own unique issues with merchandising. The better the match, the more everyone gets from their membership. The goal is an improved store with an empowered and energized owner.
Katie Andrios of GWK Enterprises in Geneseo, IL said it best:
"I was starting to think I was 'alone in the world'. I am busy and did not want to participate in something that was not going to help my business. I am thrilled with my participation in the Tele-SWAP. I discovered that I am definitely not alone and the other similar businesses have the same challenges and now we are helping find solutions to those challenges together. I strongly recommend trying a Tele-SWAP group - it is definitely worth my time!"
Your investment is only $180 for a 6 month commitment. At only $30 a month--less than the cost of a daily cup of coffee--members gain insight to overcome challenges, realize new opportunities and get fresh ideas to implement immediately.

The Retail Management Advisors started operating in 1975. TRMA helps independent apparel, gift and sporting goods retailers around the country with management issues, such as finding, selecting and implementing computer systems, budgeting and cash flow projections, shrinkage analysis and prevention, inventory control, Open-To-Buy, store policy manuals and many other tasks that a controller would do for the retail store, if the retailer was large enough to have a full-time controller. Linda Carter, president of The Retail Management Advisors, was controller for a 5-store chain of family apparel stores before becoming a consultant.
