iovation to Discuss Online Transaction Monitoring at Credit Union InfoSecurity Conference

Expert Panel Will Explore Ways to Mitigate Risk of Online Fraud

Portland, OR (PRWEB) May 29, 2008 -- As credit unions seek new ways to provide stronger protection against online fraud and abuse, iovation is leading the way in providing innovative preventative solutions that protect financial institutions from all forms of fraud and abuse. iovation co-founder and vice president, Jon Karl, will be part of the "Online Banking Transaction Monitoring Panel Discussion" at the Credit Union Tech-Talk InfoSecurity Conference, June 4-6, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The session will take place in the Marquis Ballroom #8 on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, from 2:00-3:00 p.m.

What:
Some security experts are convinced that credit unions are spending too much money on front-end authentication and not enough on transaction monitoring after the logon. They argue that if one of your member's identity is compromised, security layers beyond authentication should be in place to limit the damage cybercrooks can do. In this session, experts will cover ways to actively monitor all activity online and proactively address those risks. Topics of discussion will include:

  • The growing importance of device reputation in combating online fraud and abuse
  • Proactively screening devices at any point in the customer interaction -- from registration to logon
  • Preventative measures that make it more difficult for cybercriminals to successfully use stolen credit or personal information in the first place

Who:
Jon Karl is co-founder and vice president of iovation. An expert in the areas of Internet security and fraud management, Jon is a frequent speaker at industry trade shows, where he speaks on various topics including online fraud management, online privacy, and emerging technologies that protect online environments against fraud and abuse. Jon currently serves on the board of directors of the Merchant Risk Council (MRC), an organization of 7,800 merchants, vendors, financial institutions and law enforcement agencies that share the common goal of protecting and encouraging the thriving online commerce industry by establishing best practices for cyber-fraud prevention. Jon holds a B.S. in economics from Oregon State University.

When:
Wednesday, June 4th, 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Where:
Credit Union Tech-Talk InfoSecurity Conference, Marquis Ballroom #8, JW Marriott Resort & Spa, Las Vegas
