IMS tourism expert David Zynert gives his opinion on the tourism in Spain and the "must go" destinations.

According to FRONTUR, the institution of international tourism in Spain, the most popular tourist destination in Spain was and is Barcelona, that hosted 24,6% of the tourists during the last 4 months. In total more than 3 million tourist visited Barcelona, which is 1,8% more than last year. The most common nationalities of the visitors were French, English, Scandinavian and Italian. Barcelona is definitely worth a visit for those that love history, architecture and art.

The second most popular tourist destination during the last couple of months was the Canary Islands, that received 23,1% of the visitors. This is not an exception as anyone who has been in the Canary Islands know that it is the place of the eternal spring, also called the paradise on earth. As a recommendation for those who are planning a trip to Tenerife this summer, it is a good idea to start looking for a hotel in Tenerife already.

It would be strange if Andalusia would not appear in this context, as it is commonly called the heart of Spain. 2,1 million tourists has visited Andalusia already this year! And going to Andalusia without seeing Seville, is like not seeing anything! Seville is the golden capital of Andalusia and holds the eternal spirit of its historical past. Please make sure that you find a hotel in Seville on time, as otherwise you will find it hard.

If you are a fan of Paella, the delicious meal of the city of Valencia, you can not miss your chance to visit Valencia this summer. The 1,6 million tourists that visited Valencia during the last months can not be wrong! Valencia is definitely worth a visit. Give yourself a treat and stay at a luxury hotel in Valencia , where you can stay both near the shopping area and the beach. And don't forget to try the Paella!

Last but not least, we can not forget the dynamic capital of Spain - Madrid, with its world famous museums like El Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza. Madrid also offers a tremendous nightlife for those that like to party until the sunrise. Better to find a central hotel in Madrid for not getting lost in the late hours.

These are the most visited cities in Spain so far this year, but do not forget that Spain is like a treasure chest, wherever you go you will find something spectacular.
