iPoker, the world's largest online Poker network, is proud to announce that on Tuesday May 27th it dealt its billionth hand of poker, and Finnish player "wootrigged" walked away the lucky winner.
The stage was set and all eyes were on the ID ticker. iPoker's cash players were playing as many tables as they could open up, hoping to be at the winning table playing hand ID 1,000,000,000. The players at table "Boonville", a $0.10/$0.20 No-Limit Hold'em 6 player table saw the left hand indicator show "Hand ID 1,000,000,000". Player "mugwumphump", who was under the gun went all in. 2 players called the bet, and when the dust settled, the board showed a five of clubs, a jack of diamonds, a three of hearts, a nine of clubs and an Ace of hearts. Player "wootrigged" was holding pocket eights, and was the lucky winner of $55,000. The rest of the participating players cashed in on $5,000.
This was the culmination of a $450,000 promotion, which gave out prizes to the participants of specific hands, on the countdown to the billionth hand. During the final hours, over 18,000 seats were occupied on iPoker's cash tables.
