New Toolkit Turns Game Players into Game Developers

Hit video game creator Peter Walsh announced the worldwide publication of the first of three volumes of the Zen Game Bible today, a toolkit containing everything a computer game player needs to learn to make professional quality video games.

Carnoustie, Scotland (PRWEB) June 7, 2008 -- Peter Walsh, one of the creators of hit games including Crackdown, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, F1 Career Challenge, and Harry Potter and Chamber of Secrets released Volume I of the Zen Game Bible today; a guide that can turn any video game player into a professional-quality game developer. Volumes II and III are set for release over the coming weeks.

Many people are concerned about teenagers and young adults spending too much time playing video games. Now the Zen Game Bible offers the chance to turn an entertaining hobby into a highly paid career. Peter Walsh is the creator of numerous top selling games, and the author of seven industry books. Now for the first time he's showing avid game players how to make their own video games. "We've got big titles getting released this year like GTA 4, which is going to make more people than ever want to learn the secrets of making games of this quality" said Mr. Walsh.

Spread across three volumes, the Zen Game Bible teaches everything the industry professionals use to create high performance 3D games including how to program in C++, how to work with Windows and DirectX, and how to use the computational power of 3D hardware. Additionally, everything in the Zen Game Bible is transferable to making games for consoles like the Xbox 360.

"Until now you needed to be pretty well funded with a university level education behind you to make it to the top of the games industry" said Peter Walsh, author and CEO of the Zen Game Bible. "Now you can access decades of interactive entertainment knowledge, experience, and research online all for the price of a couple of computer games, which we think is great value. It's going to open up the industry to a whole new generation"

He added "Until now if you wanted to learn game development you could spend weeks going through software engineering books aimed at people worried about how to display bank accounts on screen, before investing in several advanced development books, all by different authors, with overlapping material, and different coding styles. With the Zen Game Bible you can learn everything all in one place, taught by an industry expert. It's the only thing out there that could take you from a game player to a level of knowledge and skill where you could actually enter the industry as a real developer. Period."

"The bottom line is this: everyone knows video games are fun. But the best game you'll ever play is the one you write yourself."

About Zen Game Bible:
The Zen Game Bible was set up by Peter Walsh in 2008 to help educate a new generation of game developers.
