Survey says outdoor and electronic gifts are favored by today's fathers.

Abt Electronics today announced its "short list" of Father's day gift ideas, as supplied by dads themselves.

"We've all heard the old jokes about buying a tie for father's day," said Abt Electronics President Jon Abt. "We decided to survey several dads about the things they'd really like to get on Father's day, then we posted the results on our website."

Because Father's day coincides with the unofficial start of summer, many of the desired father's day gift ideas are no surprise. Weber Grills, barbecue accessories, and sunglasses figure prominently on the list, but there is also a wide assortment of indoor gifts for the indoor father. For dads who enjoy the finer things in life, Abt features wine fridges and Avanti 5 liter beer kegs.

"As always, electronic items are the most desired products for Father's Day, just as they are for Birthdays, Christmas, and Super Bowl Sunday" said Abt.

Most items found in the "gifts for him" department include Home Theater, Car Stereo, Headphone, and HDTV offerings. With the DVD format war now over, many fathers are expecting Blu-Ray high definition DVD players to go along with their plasma and LCD television sets.
