SocialBang is an innovative graphical chat environment where users communicate with others in real time. Users upload a picture of them self then navigate around while chatting to other users. It combines elements of old style chat rooms, social networks, dating sites and casual games into a single unique offering. The primary aim of SocialBang is to be a place where users can meet and interact with other people in a fun real time environment.
"It's a place to socialise in real time, a kind of online party. We use a number of mechanisms to encourage people to interact with each other and we'll be adding many more over the coming months. The aim is to help people meet and get to know new people, because we think that's fun," says founder James Adams.
Membership is free and all users get a "room" which they can decorate as they wish, this acts as a kind of interactive, real time myspace profile page where they can express themselves or even host a "party".
Users are represented by a picture of them self which gives the service a raw and personal feel.
Credits are the currency of Socialbang and users are rewarded with credits for referring friends or bringing users to their room. User can also purchase more credits and there's a subscription option for premium features.
"The traditional chat room, hasn't really changed much in the last 20 years, recently there's been an explosion in web 2.0 social media lead by Facebook and Myspace, but little new for interacting with a group of other people in real time. There are 3D services, that aim to offer you a second life, but we're just trying to facilitate a fun and efficient way for people to socialise in this life," Adams said.
Socialbang plans to add a range of new features over the next few months including a Facebook application, Myspace data availability integration, as well as with the ability for users to embed Twitter, YouTube videos and other 3rd party site content within rooms.
Socialbang.com today launched an update to it's next generation chat, dating & social networking service which is currently in beta.
Socialbang is owned and operated by Joyplay Ltd, a private UK company with offices in London and Malta.
