The Simple Carnival, a one-man-band recording project, today announced the limited availability of a free digital download release in honor of Harry Nilsson's birthday.

The "Me and My Arrow" EP, free to visitors to who register with only an e-mail address, is sure to win the hearts and grab the ears of Harry Nilsson and Brian Wilson fans. Those who download the EP this weekend will be able to preorder The Simple Carnival's upcoming debut album in October, "Girls Aliens Food," for a temporarily reduced price.

The EP will be available for free from the beginning of Friday, June 13 through midnight, Sunday, June 15, 2008 (EST). The EP is in a standard mp3 format, which means it will play on any computer, iPod, or device which can play mp3s.

"Me and My Arrow" consists of four summery orchestral pop songs, the title track being a cover of the Harry Nilsson song of the same name. Jeff Boller, the singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist behind The Simple Carnival, explains: "I've always loved that song, but the original version is only two minutes long. I wanted to keep what made the original so special, but have it sound more complete -- the way I always wanted to hear it."

Another track from the EP, "Really Really Weird," has recently been making the rounds on YouTube with a humorously low-budget animated music video. Boller says: "I used construction paper, glue, and some free computer programs to piece the cartoon together. The reaction to the video has been great, which was a bit of a surprise given the fact that I can't draw."

The Simple Carnival is a Pittsburgh-based pop recording project, fronted by musician Jeff Boller. In addition to writing and singing, Boller plays approximately thirty instruments on The Simple Carnival's recordings. ("Me and My Arrow" is the third Simple Carnival EP release since 2001.)

The Simple Carnival has received rave reviews from such artists as '60s sunshine pop songwriter Margo Guryan and indiepop legend Louis Philippe. The full-length debut album, "Girls Aliens Food," will be released on Sundrift Records on October 1, 2008.

The "Me and My Arrow" EP can be purchased through iTunes (as a download), Amazon (as a CD), and (as a CD and download). The upcoming "Girls Aliens Food" album can be preordered only through

Harry Nilsson, who passed away in 1994, would have turned 67 on June 15th. An American singer/songwriter, he was best known for singing the 1968 song "Everybody's Talkin'" and the 1971 hit "Without You" (later popularized by Mariah Carey). The song "Me and My Arrow" was originally recorded for Nilsson's whimsical 1971 children's album and animated television special, "The Point." The song was sampled for Blackalicious' 2002 song, "Blazing Arrow."

An Extended Play (EP) is a music release with a running time longer than a single, yet shorter than a full-length album.
