KnowledgeTree and Funambol Announce Bounty for Code Sniper Community Project

Sales and marketing teams, traveling executives and many other knowledge workers will always have access to up-to-date sales and marketing collateral, contract templates, project documentation and other documents they choose to sync.

KnowledgeTree, the leading provider of commercial open source document management software, and Funambol, the leading provider of Mobile 2.0 open source messaging software, today announced a new Code Sniper project to their respective global open source communities. The project is set to recognize and reward community members who write software to sync content between mobile phones and the KnowledgeTree document management application using the Funambol mobile open source platform.

Code Sniper is Funambol's community program that recognizes and financially rewards developers for work on open source projects that benefit global mobile users. This new Code Sniper project will provide geographically dispersed knowledge workers, including sales and marketing teams, with real-time updates of all critical company documents. All of the applications developed for the Code Sniper program are made freely available under standard open source licensing.

"Funambol's mobile platform provides a great mechanism for KnowledgeTree customers to synchronize their documents to mobile devices," said Daniel Chalef, CEO of KnowledgeTree. "Sales and marketing teams, traveling executives and many other knowledge workers will always have access to up-to-date sales and marketing collateral, contract templates, project documentation and other documents they choose to sync."

Funambol introduced the popular Code Sniper program over a year ago. Numerous mobile developers have worked on and delivered useful community projects, such as mobile apps for the iPhone, Android, Yahoo!, Gmail and Thunderbird.

"The ability to access important documents on the go is critical for lots of people," said Fabrizio Capobianco, Funambol CEO. "KnowledgeTree's document management system in combination with our mobile open source platform can make this a reality. We are excited to work with KnowledgeTree to offer this Code Sniper project to our communities as the resulting open source software can benefit many users."

This Code Sniper project offers a bounty of $2,000. For more information or to submit a proposal to develop this project, please visit http://wiki.knowledgetree.com/Funambol_Integration. To view other KnowledgeTree community projects, visit http://wiki.knowledgetree.com/Community_Projects.
