With Workplace Smoking Bans Implemented In Many States, Businesses Turn To Gazebos As An Outdoor Haven For Their Smoking Employees

Workplaces nationwide are going smoke free in response to State and Local laws prohibiting smoking in workplaces to protect employees and others from the harmful effects of secondhand smoke. In response to these changes, progressive employers develop pleasant outdoor smoking areas that often include a covered gazebo to protect smokers from the elements.

Genoa, IL (PRWEB) June 12, 2008 -- Workplaces nationwide are implementing smoke free policies in response to State and Local laws that prohibit smoking in the workplace. To help smoking employees cope with the changes, many businesses are installing gazebos in a designated smoking area to give employees a shelter so that they may have a cigarette on their breaks.

"We are helping many businesses who are interested in building a gazebo to give their employees a smoking designated area that provides some shelter and protection from the elements," comments Charles Scordato, President of the family owned business Leisure Woods. "Employees appreciate having a pleasant area to go to and businesses can easily designate the area as the only place on company property where smoking is allowed."

Studies have shown that smoke free workplaces protect employees from secondhand smoke and workplace smoking restrictions lead to less smoking among workers1. "My company built a roomy gazebo last year for our smoking area. While adapting to the smoking ban was challenging, the smokers did appreciate that we had a covered area to go to, especially in the winter," comments Dan Anderson from Philadelphia, PA.

Businesses interested in building their own gazebo as a smoking hut have many designs and styles to choose from. Companies like Leisure Woods have a variety of gazebo kit designs, or they can custom create a gazebo based on specific size and dimension requirements. "We would be pleased to help any organization create a designated smoking area with one of our gazebos," states Scordato. "We recognize the special needs of businesses and we have the capability and manufacturing space to allow for custom adaptations."

Any business interested in learning more about installing a gazebo on their property as a designated smoking area is encouraged to visit the Leisure Woods website or to contact the company directly.
