J.D. Byrider has stepped up to become one of our Cause Sponsors for the Start! Heart Walk in Indianapolis. They have also gotten involved with our Executive Leadership Team, our Board of Directors and our Heart of Gold Ball. They have certainly made a difference in our local efforts.
Carmel, IN (PRWEB) June 16, 2008
You won't find the number #1 and #3 killers in the US on a wanted poster at the local post office: it's heart disease and stroke. The American Heart Association is dedicated to helping Americans fight these deadly illnesses.
Raising awareness is key, and one way the organization helps spread the word in by teaming up with businesses to hold events that alert people to the dangers heart disease and strokes pose. The American Heart Association's premier fund-raising event, the Start! Heart Walk, helps the organization promote exercise and a heart-healthy lifestyle with a fun, family-friendly event.
More than 1 million people are expected to participate nationwide in a walk to raise awareness as well as funds. This year, the 2008 Indianapolis Start! Heart Walk will take place on Saturday, September 20. Participants will raise money for a worthy cause and improve their health at the same time by walking. Many of the people who plan to take part are organized by teams formed at work and are sponsored in other ways by their employers.
J.D. Byrider, a used auto and poor credit auto financing company that provides good cars to people who need credit, is helping with the effort, according to Alison Martin, Vice President of Indiana Metro Markets Corporate Events and the Indianapolis Executive Director for the American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate:
"J.D. Byrider has stepped up to become one of our Cause Sponsors for the Start! Heart Walk in Indianapolis. They have also gotten involved with our Executive Leadership Team, our Board of Directors and our Heart of Gold Ball. They have certainly made a difference in our local efforts."
Their involvement with the Start! Heart Walk allows J.D. Byrider to reach out to our customers and associates -- as well as their friends and families -- with a life-saving message: A healthier lifestyle can lead to a healthier person. The company has a stake in promoting good health:
"Working with the American Heart Association Start! Heart Walk makes a lot of sense for us," said Jim England, president of The J.D. Byrider Advertising Group, Inc. "Statistics show that people are working 164 hours more each year, in more sedentary occupations, so they just aren't getting enough exercise. This affects both our employees and our customers. We'd like for all of them to be healthy and walking can be a great solution -- no need to join club or gym, no need to purchase fancy exercise equipment, just lace up a pair of shoes and go to it. By encouraging walking, we're not asking our customers to spend discretionary dollars they don't have. But we are showing them a heart-healthy option that can cause them to change their lives. Our founder, Jim DeVoe, Sr., got us involved with the Heart Association and charged me with making it something great for us. The DeVoe family has been extremely supportive of this effort, and I thank them for that."
J.D. Byrider is proud to join the American Heart Association in spreading the word about heart disease and promoting healthier lifestyles. For J.D. Byrider, it's not just about healthier customers and associates - it's about saving lives.
