Freddy Fender Museum Honors Musician in San Benito, Texas

The Freddy Fender Museum recently opened in San Benito, Texas, and honors the late Freddy Fender, a musician known for his work as a solo artist and in the groups Los Super Seven and the Texas Tornados.

San Benito, Texas (PRWEB) June 15, 2008 -- The Freddy Fender Museum, which recently opened its doors in San Benito, Texas, honors the late Freddy Fender, a 70s rock and roll star and solo artist who was born in San Benito.

Fender, whose real name was Baldemar Huerta, was known for his work as a solo artist and in the groups Los Super Seven and the Texas Tornadoes. He is best known for his 1975 hit "Before the Next Teardrop Falls."

The museum is located in the San Benito Community Center, and houses a few cherished items of Fender's including a couple of worn guitars, a giant "Freddy Fender" belt buckle, even a jar of his own picante sauce.

The Fender museum is one of three that opened at the Community Center. The San Benito History Museum, which chronicles the town's beginnings and the Texas Conjunto Hall of Fame and Museum, which honors the musical genre born in this town, each have 450 square feet of space in the center to tell their stories, too.
