Consider the Rose: A Twenty-First Century Collection of Inspirational Poetry
($9.00) ISBN: 978-0-8059-7586-4, paperback
This poignant collection of inspirational poetry is coupled with the author Todd Stokes's touchingly funny childhood memories to create an eclectic vignette of faith, humor, and solace.
Stokes's eloquent poems express his complete and subliminal connection to Christianity. The subtle craft of his wording complements the ease with which he elaborates on death, the afterlife, and surrendering control to God. These poems are juxtaposed by his collection of personal anecdotes, in which he recounts his mischievous exploits as a child. His stories, which range from nighttime walks in the cemetery to an intriguing carnival sideshow gone horribly awry, will have you engrossed with his tales up until their hilarious and shocking conclusions.
This book offers a complex and enlightening look at the experiences, passions, and beliefs that are the driving force in one man's life and offer comfort and inspiration to the lives of others.

A Quest for Control of the Visceral Brain-The Emotional Brain: A New Paradigm for the Twenty-first Century, Transcranial Brain Stimulation-Modulation
($100.00) ISBN: 978-0-8059-7527-7, paperback
In his doctoral dissertation, Dr. Alves discusses the effects of transcranial brain stimulation (TBS) and proposes a new noninvasive method. Through his own brain mapping and low-dose stimulation (below seizure threshold) with electric, magnetic and laser beams, Dr. Alves believes that TBS can substantially lessen the symptoms of neuropsychiatric disorders, such as OCD and major depression, as well as chronic pain, epilepsy, and even Parkinson's disease and stroke.
For the patients who do not respond or cannot tolerate traditional medications, his noninvasive method could replace other invasive neurosurgical procedures. Until now it was necessary to produce epileptic seizures for the treatment to be effective, notwithstanding the problems associated with traditional brain stimulation, such as memory loss.
As researchers learn more about the generation and expression of emotions, this may become the preferred treatment in the future.
