AEgis Announces Release of acslX Version 2.4.2 Software; Includes Simulink® Integration and Statistical Modeling

Today it was announced that version 2.4.2 of the popular acslX software has been released. New features in this version include Simulink® Integration and Statistical Modeling. acslX has been in use for over 34 years by scientists and engineers in the aerospace, toxicology, pharmacology, automotive and process engineering fields as a tool for solving complex mathematical modeling and simulation problems.

Huntsville, AL (PRWEB) June 18, 2008 -- The AEgis Technologies Group, Inc., a leading supplier of simulation software, training, and engineering services to the international modeling and simulation community, announces the release of acslX (formerly acslXtreme) Version 2.4.2. acslX is used by scientists and engineers in fields including drug discovery and development, toxicology, aerospace engineering, automotive design, and industrial process engineering to solve complex mathematical problems.

Version 2.4.2 of acslX includes two significant new features: integration with the Simulink modeling and simulation environment, and a new language for specifying statistical models, which are sampled using the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) capabilities of acslX.

The Simulink integration capability allows models created in acslX to be packaged into blocks which can be dropped into Simulink models. This allows performance-sensitive parts of large Simulink models to be coded in CSL and compiled into native code using acslX; it also provides an equation-based textual language alternative for coding differential equations in Simulink.

The statistical modeling tool (called the acslX MC Modeler) implements a new language for defining statistical models (including population and nonlinear mixed-effects models). The new language extends the M language by adding operators used to specify how model variables are associated with probability distributions or likelihood functions. The models are translated into pure M code which runs using the existing acslX suite of random number generators, probability distributions, and MCMC sampling routines.

In addition to numerous other usability and performance improvements, version 2.4.2 unifies all features of the acslXtreme, acslXpress and Optimum products into one system, which is now priced starting at $500 US. Other major feature additions since the last release include: additional parameter estimation algorithms, additional runtime plotting capabilities and usability improvements, additional statistical distributions, improvements to the MCMC system, a "directory browser" for opening files which are not included in the currently opened workspace, integrated tutorials and automated software update checking.

About acslX
The award-winning acslX environment provides integrated, end-to-end capabilities for model development, simulation execution, and results analysis. Models are specified using either familiar block diagram notation, or code-based descriptions using the CSL modeling language. By default, all model representations are translated into C or FORTRAN language source code for compilation and execution, ensuring the fastest possible performance and support for extremely large or complex models. Open application programming interfaces (APIs) are provided throughout the system to extend acslX functionality, allow the integration of custom or legacy code within acslX models, or to embed the generated simulation into end-user applications. Model code reuse is supported through easily creatable user-defined libraries of simulation blocks. acslXtreme provides a powerful simulation control scripting language and mathematical analysis environment based on the popular M language for mathematical computing.

Version 2.4 of acslX continues the tradition of its predecessor, ACSL, which was one of the first commercially available modeling and simulation tools designed for simulating continuous systems. ACSL has been validated through more than 30 years of continuous use by the world's most demanding simulation professionals.
