ZocDoc is simplifying the U.S. health system by providing consumers with the tools and information they need to make informed choices about their healthcare decisions.

ZocDoc, a service that helps consumers find and book doctor and dentist appointments online, today announced its new dermatology appointment service. New Yorkers can now use the Web to move to the front of the line at the dermatologist's office. Patients can find dermatologists in their area, filter by insurance, read patient reviews and book an appointment - including same-day and next-day appointments - instantly online.

According to The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, it takes nearly four weeks on average for a patient to get a medical dermatology appointment and more than a week for a cosmetic dermatology appointment. ZocDoc helps patients avoid the waiting list to see a doctor, so they can get the proper care that they need.

"As most New Yorkers know, it can take several months to schedule a dermatology appointment. We're continually expanding our service with more doctors including dermatologists to give New Yorkers a better healthcare experience," said Cyrus Massoumi, ZocDoc co-founder and CEO. "ZocDoc is simplifying the U.S. health system by providing consumers with the tools and information they need to make informed choices about their healthcare decisions."

With ZocDoc's addition of dermatologists, patients can now schedule both medical and cosmetic skincare appointments. Just some of the procedures available include skin cancer examinations, acne treatment, mole inspections, and laser hair removal as well as Botox and collagen injections.

"Getting an annual skin screening is as important as getting a physical, but most people don't come in until something is wrong. This is often because people are very busy and they forget to schedule regular appointments," said Dr. Neha Parikh of the New York Dermatology Group. "ZocDoc is great because it allows patients to view appointments online and book one that is most convenient for them. It even sends them a reminder to schedule their next visit."

ZocDoc uses the Internet to improve the patient experience when trying to find and book an appointment with a healthcare professional. Patients no longer have to wait several weeks or longer to get an appointment with a doctor in their area. Another added benefit is that ZocDoc users can instantly verify whether a doctor accepts their health insurance and the patient feedback provides those looking for a doctor with accurate reviews on each practice.
