Allied Schools Unveils Scholarship Program for Military Spouses

Military spouses can now enroll in no-charge career training at a nationally-accredited distance education school. Allied Schools, which offers 100% online courses, recently unveiled its Military Family Scholarship Program, which allows a military spouse or dependent to train at no charge.

Allied's scholarship program comes in the wake of efforts by the Department of Defense and various service branches to broaden the career and educational opportunities of military spouses.

Military spouses, or a dependent, study at no charge when service members enroll at Allied Schools using their Tuition Assistance benefits and then complete one course/module. Military spouses can choose from an approved list of courses in real estate, medical and business - many of which are 100% online. Allied offers career training in highly-mobile professions like medical transcription and real estate sales.

Distance (online) education allows military spouses to train from home while still maintaining their daily commitments to family and friends. Military spouses do not have to worry about in-state/out-of-state tuition rates if they must move - online training removes the barrier of residency status.

"The scholarship is our way of thanking military families for the sacrifices they make each and every day," said Steve Rathje, president, Allied Schools. "We've helped over 10,000 service members enroll in career training over the years, and it's gratifying to now be helping military spouses."

The military spouses of active-duty Airmen, Sailors, Marines, along with Army National Guard and Army Reserve Soldiers on active-drilling status are eligible for the scholarship program. Allied's Military Family Scholarship Program is an in-house program that is not affiliated with any US government spouse education programs.
