The Columbus, A Renaissance Hotel completes final phase of renovations and earns AAA Four-Diamond Award.

The Columbus, A Renaissance Hotel recently completed the final phase of a four-year $16.5 million renovation project.

This final $1.5 million project focused on the downtown Columbus hotel's lavish meeting and ballroom space. New wallpaper, carpeting, draperies and furniture create a dramatic and contemporary atmosphere. "The idea is to give it the same stylish look that the lobby has without changing the excellent design and flow of the existing function space," said Geri Lombard, General Manager of The Columbus, A Renaissance Hotel.

The hotel's Hayes Ballroom provides 11,700 square feet of purpose-built, flexible and well-designed Ohio meeting and event space. With its high ceilings, grandiose chandeliers and spacious pre-function area, the room is ideal for a diverse array of events including business meetings and weddings.

The Columbus has the second most available rooms and meeting space of any hotel in downtown Columbus, Ohio. Boasting 22,500 square feet of indoor and 11,000 square feet of unique outdoor function space on the rooftop Pool Terrace, The Columbus enriches corporate and social gatherings with its distinct, innovative surroundings.

The first stage of the renovation was completed in 2006 and included dramatic changes to the hotel's guest rooms and lobby. The overall renovation makes a bold statement that infuses local color to leverage a distinctive, stylish, one-of-a-kind look. In addition to a refrigerator, laptop safe and dedicated T1 high-speed Internet access, each of The Columbus' 408 rooms and hotel suites in Columbus, Ohio now feature new plush bedding, with pillow-top mattresses, down pillows and duvet covers. A stunning view of downtown Columbus accentuates the atmosphere found in every room of the hotel. The entire hotel is equipped with wireless Internet access. In the lobby, limestone columns surround the mahogany front desk, which is backlit through captivating glass tiles. A crisp Italian ceramic tile and marble floor and rich wood accents create an indulgent, inviting atmosphere for visitors as they arrive and depart.

The first phase of the renovation also yielded the elegantly modern Latitude 41 restaurant in Columbus and Bar 41 -- both adjacent to the lobby. Under the leadership of acclaimed Chef Dean James Max, Latitude 41 has become a hotspot for local business diners and out-of-town visitors alike. Celebrated head chef Tony Miller constantly delivers culinary delights by using the freshest locally grown ingredients in each dish.

As a result of this significant renovation, the Automobile Association of America (AAA) recently awarded The Columbus, A Renaissance Hotel with its prestigious Four-Diamond Award. Only three percent of the estimated 28,000 AAA-rated hotels attain the Four-Diamond level of excellence, and only three other Columbus area establishments have earned the coveted Preferred Four Diamond Rating. At this level, the essential elements AAA looks for include offering an extensive array of amenities, combined with a high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail.
