Intelligent Transportation Society of America Announces New Vice President of Government Relations

Paul A. Feenstra has been named Vice President of Government Relations for the Intelligent Transportation Society of America, the organization announced today. Feenstra was most recently the Director of Governmental, International and Public Affairs at the Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) of the U.S. Department of Transportation. He also served as an advisor to U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary E. Peters on surface transportation policy and strategy.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) June 23, 2008 -- Paul A. Feenstra has been named Vice President of Government Relations for the Intelligent Transportation Society of America, the organization announced today. Feenstra was most recently the Director of Governmental, International and Public Affairs at the Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) of the U.S. Department of Transportation. He also served as an advisor to U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary E. Peters on surface transportation policy and strategy.

"I know that the wealth of experience Paul brings to this position will take our advocacy on behalf of the ITS industry to the next level as we face transportation reauthorization."

In addition to his work providing political leadership at RITA, the agency responsible for coordinating the U.S. Department of Transportation's $1 billion in research and technology programs, Feenstra also provided agency leadership on legislative development and policy planning activities, including surface transportation and aviation reauthorization and the Congressional appropriations process.

Feenstra's career also includes serving as the Communications Director for U.S. Congressman John Peterson of Pennsylvania's 5th District and Deputy Press Secretary for U.S. Senator Rick Santorum.

Feenstra holds a Master of Arts degree in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance and Business Management from Pennsylvania State University.
