IndyCar Series® Racing and online broadcast technology provider WhiteBlox are celebrating the largest online viewer tune-in ever for the Indianapolis 500. The month of May's Indy 500 coverage posted an increase of 250% over the previous year, which has spurred IndyCar Series® Racing and WhiteBlox to team up year-round for coverage of all things Indy. The expanded online experience will help in boosting IndyCar's fanbase in the U.S. on a grassroots level, edging closer to rival racing format, NASCAR. IndyCar is the more watched format internationally.

"With WhiteBlox's "FeedMe" technology, we're able to broadcast live coverage from anywhere, be it events, practices, time trials or interviews with drivers and crew," said Fred Nation, VP Communications for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. "We've been freed to follow the action during the season on and off the track, which has really made this a year-round operation. We think our fans will be very excited to embrace our expanded online coverage."

Through the WhiteBlox "FeedMe" technology, IndyCar was able to feed simultaneously to six live cameras able to rotate 360 degrees. Web viewers could choose different cameras instantly during the coverage of the race on the Indyracing.com and Indy500.com websites. The WhiteBlox "IndyCar Video Player" also enabled viewers to post questions in a real-time chat forum for the race announcers, which were answered live on camera. Additionally, web viewers could access up to the minute stats, fan polls, and interactive commercials.

In the months leading up to the race, other events, practices and one-on-one interviews were conducted and aired with over 50 Internet broadcasts conducted over the past year.

"Our partnership with IndyCar has been fantastic these past three years. We're proud to be able to enable Indy to provide their fans with high-quality video, up-to-the-minute broadcasts and an interactive community," said WhiteBlox CEO, Greg Demetriades. "We welcome the opportunity to do it year-round."
