Neighborhood Restaurant Garners Spot on Magazine's Best Restaurant List

The awards ceremony was held on April 14th at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel in downtown Vancouver and the event attracted more than 700 guests.

Described by Vancouver Magazine as "pretty" and "unpretentious," Jules Bistro is the creation of co-owners Stephan Gagnon and Chef Emmanuel Joinville. The restaurant is approachable and appealing, with Parisian details and a French aesthetic. Critics describe the restaurant's fare as "simple though refined," and appreciate the masterful execution of the chef's classic French combinations.

French chef and co-owner Emanuel Joinville previously ran a restaurant in both Paris and Dijon before coming to Vancouver. Once here, he opened Soupspoons, an enormously popular spot that spawned five locations before Joinville sold it to open Jules Bistro with friend and co-owner Stephan Gagnon. Gagnon, who runs the front-of-the-house, is a contractor who recently worked on Gastropod and Fuel in Kitsilano.

The Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards was established in 1990 and is Canada's largest and most prestigious culinary awards event. The event reflects Vancouver's top ranking as a culinary destination on the West Coast and its distinguished panel of judges includes chefs, critics, editors, journalists and publishers in the food industry.
