For Kiril Kulish, a San Diego native, now really is the time for a little bit more. Thanks, at least in part, to his soon starring debut role on Broadway as the leading role of Billy in "Billy Elliot", Kiril Kulish has big shoes to fill. He not only has to sing, act, street dance and dance ballet, but do gymnastics and master a Geordie accent with absolute authenticity and do it all poignantly and beautifully while holding one of the most unique young and demanding roles on Broadway with the show set to open on October 1, 2008.
Further, the role is the largest child's role in musical theatre history on Broadway and one of the largest roles of any age. The young actor playing it is on-stage for almost three hours performing six musical numbers; the role's sheer size and the stamina require a demanding training schedule and complete dedication.
The 14 year-old noted world ballet dancer, singer and actor is up for this unique and challenging role. He is also posed for further breakout success with his eloquent Piano Concerts on stage as well as starring roles in film and television. At the tender age of 14, he's achieved quite a reputable and impressive resume that takes people a lifetime to achieve.
His authenticity makes him able to connect with the young crowd while truly remaining a kid at heart that just happens to work hard and be very talented at what he does as well as an older crowd since he brings them to tears with his beautiful performances in Piano and the Ballet. It's really quite remarkable.
Kiril Kulish was born in San Diego in 1994. Kiril studied piano as a kid under the direction of his mother a classically trained concert pianist, and played his first concert at age seven. He began simultaneous study in Ballet at age five and then Ballroom Dance at age eight. By the time he was 11 years old he was winning 1st place in International Ballet Competitions as well as 1st place in Latin Ballroom Dance. An unheard of pairing as ballet is usually not mixed with any other type of dance training or repertoire. The young lad also speaks Russian fluently.
Although there are quite a few talented people in this world there are few people who hold that certain inarticulable something that catch and holds your eyes, and with Kiril Kulish and his illustrious performances on stage and film and television, the world has something to keep watching admiringly for years to come as it looks like he has that certain it factor that's rare and hard to come by that makes you want to watch again and again, much like a young Gene Kelly.
