High-powered bass amplification solution offers portability for bassists

Specialty distributor of stringed instrument and amplifiers, Private Reserve Guitars has experienced great success with the bass amp line, the Genz Benz Shuttle Series. Since its launch at Winter NAMM 2008, the top-selling Shuttle bass amps prove that big sound can come in a tiny package. Shuttle amps were developed for professional players, who require an easily transportable, flexible bass system that is full-featured. Private Reserve Guitars carries the bass amp series and provides more detail about each Genz Benz Shuttle model on its website.

The Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 Bass Amp Head weighs only 2.75 lbs. and delivers 300 watts of power with great sonic clarity. The amp head includes a headphone output that's useful for quiet practice sessions. It can also be used as a recording preamp since it includes a post-EQ DI output. Comparably, the Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 Bass Amp Head weighs a mere 3.75 lbs. and produces plenty of warmth thanks to its analog tube preamp, and with 600 watts of power, it's capable of handling larger performance spaces.

Both Shuttle amp heads have a 12AX7 tube preamp with Genz Benz active EQ and responsive signal shape circuitry. The power amp section is a high-power Class D module, which also incorporates a switch mode power supply. The amp heads are loaded with an effects loop option, footswitchable signal mute, extended range input gain for active/passive sensitivity, a Limiter circuit, and more. Both Shuttle amplifier heads are also available in combo versions and are easily removed from their combo "saddle." The heads can then be easily transported in a gig bag when only the amplifier functions are needed for events such as recording sessions. .

For bassists seeking the versatility of a bass amp combo, the Genz Benz 3.0 -8T Bass Combo Amplifier delivers 175 watts of power through an 8" neodymium loudspeaker (300W with an optional extension speaker cabinet connected) and weighs 13.5 lbs. The slightly larger Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-10T 110 Bass Combo Amplifier offers the same power with a 10" neodymium loudspeaker plus tweeter and weights only 18 lbs.

Specially designed for the Shuttle combos, the Genz Benz Shuttle 110 Bass Speaker Extension Cabinet follows suit with a compact design and delivers more output from the two Shuttle combos. It comes equipped with a 10" custom-sourced, cast-frame neodymium woofer and a tweeter with attenuation control. The speaker cab is made of birch plywood with heavy-duty vinyl covering.

The verdict is in: The Shuttle Amp Series delivers the tone, features, and performance necessary for a variety of venues and uses. From café gigs and "acoustic" performances to practice sessions, the highly portable Genz Benz bass amps and combos don't sacrifice tone or power.
