Ultralite™ Tarps, All-in-One Ultralite™ Rescue Sled/Tarp, Backcountry Sharktooth™ Shovel and Brooks-Range Toolkits Provide Top-Quality Winter Gear and Equipment for Professional Mountain Guides, Alpinists and Backcountry Travelers.

Fremont, CA (PRWEB) June 30, 2008 -- Brooks-Range, a leading manufacturer of mountaineering gear and backcountry equipment, will introduce its winter 2008 collection at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City. The company’s new gear includes its Ultralite™ Line of equipment, the Ultralite™ Solo and Guide Tarps, Ultralite™ Rescue Sled, and All-In-One Ultralite™ Rescue Sled/Tarp, as well as Backcountry Sharktooth Shovel™ with Chaos™ finish and avalanche rescue graphics, Heli-Guide Ski Straps™, and additional Brooks-Range Toolkits. Brooks-Range provides a selection of innovative, top-quality backcountry gear for professional mountain and ski guides, alpinists, backcountry travelers and hikers. The collection is designed to better prepare adventurers of all skill levels for whatever conditions they may encounter in alpine and backcountry environments.

“Brooks-Range innovates by focusing on quality, not quantity,” said Matt Brooks, President of Brooks-Range. “When I started this company in 1995, I found that the equipment I was using in my Certified Mountain Guide courses was cumbersome. I decided to create products better suited for backcountry adventures that would give outdoor enthusiasts the tools they really need. The new Ultralite Brooks-Range rescue sleds and tarps, as well as our backcountry toolkits and equipment, will make any adventurer better prepared, lighter and faster.”

Brooks-Range innovates by focusing on quality, not quantity
The new Brooks-Range Ultralite Rescue Sled is designed to transport a person of any size, along with his/her skis and poles. Independently tested by ski guides, Search and Rescue (SAR) professionals and adventurers, the system has proven to be the most dependable, sturdy platform available for emergency transport in the backcountry. Constructed in a vivid red high-tech ultralight-weight rip-stop nylon fabric exclusively available in Brooks-Range Ultralite products, the system weighs just 12 oz. and folds into a compact storage envelope measuring 6’ x 11’ x 1”. Pro Stretcher Bars that accompany the sled are made using newly developed high-tech aluminum. The Ultralite Rescue Sled can be easily assembled in less than two minutes. MSRP: $288.00

The Brooks-Range Ultralite Solo Tarp (5’ x 8’, 7 oz.) and Ultralite Guide Tarp (8’ x 10’, 10 oz.) have a nylon tie loop sewn to a reinforced center patch and 16 nylon webbing loops sewn to the corners and at intervals along the edges to facilitate a variety of set-up configurations. Both tarps are made of high-tech ultralight rip-stop nylon fabric with an unparalleled strength-to-weight ratio. Compact and light enough for any trip, the tarps serve multiple uses, such as a lightweight shelter, tent or gear storage shelter. Ultralite Solo Tarp MSRP: $75.00; Ultralite Guide Tarp MSRP: $145.0

The Brooks-Range Backcountry Sharktooth Shovel weighs only 1 lb, 12 oz. and features a heavy-duty D-grip handle that works with mitts or gloves. The 20” telescoping lightweight aluminum shaft provides the longest reach on the market, giving this shovel a length of up to 44”. The 15” x 10” tempered aluminum scoop has “deadman” holes for use as an emergency anchor, as well as an optional serrated “Sharktooth” edge that makes short work of the toughest ice and hard pack. All blades include quick-reference laser-engraved graphics that show companion avalanche rescue information. MSRP: $ 40.00 ($50.00 with Sharktooth™ edge)

The new Brooks-Range Heli-Guide Ski Straps, inspired by the ski straps used by heli ski guides, work well with today’s wider backcountry and telemark skis. They are durable, lightweight, measure 20” long, and are made of colorful embroidered nylon webbing with hook and loop tape and a metal “D” ring. The straps can be secured directly to boards, skis, and other backcountry gear. MSRP: single is $7.50; TwinPac set of 2 is $13.50.

Brooks-Range Toolkits are perfect for climbers, backpackers, backcountry skiers, snowmobilers, professional mountain guides, ski patrol, SAR personnel, or anyone who travels in backcountry areas. All are compact enough to fit in a shirt or coat pocket, include a Field Organizer™ sized for standard field books and folded topo maps. Their bright yellow color makes them easy to find in snow and low light conditions. Thirteen water-resistant Ski Guide Cards condense critical safety information developed by professional mountain guides, avalanche and backcountry professionals to help remember key points in the field.

Professional Guide Toolkit™ -- Provides all essential winter backcountry tools in one convenient package, including: Ski Guide Cards™, All-in-One Map Tool Pro (a non-glare, flexible map tool with 10 scales, Universal Transverse Mercator and slope indexes), All-in-One Emergency Latitude/Longitude Ruler (a 4” x 7” paper tool for providing lat/long position to air rescue teams in an emergency), a standard #311 field book, and the Field Organizer to hold it all together.
