Richard S. Braddock was elected to the Cristo Rey Network Board of Directors at its annual meeting in Boston, MA in April. Braddock became Chairman and CEO of Fresh Direct in March 2008. He served as Chairman of MidOcean Partners from April of 2003 until December 2007, and became the Chairman of Fresh Direct in 2005.
John Foley, S.J., Executive Chairman of the Cristo Rey Network says, "Rick Braddock brings the experience of having overseen a rapidly-growing company. We are in line to learn a lot from him about how to preserve top-notch quality in a burgeoning network of schools."
The Cristo Rey Network is a national association of Catholic, college preparatory high schools that exclusively serve low-income students in distressed urban environments. This year there are 19 schools serving 4,235 urban young people. 94% of the students at the Cristo Rey schools are racial minorities; 32% of students are African American, and 56% are Latino. The schools are open to students of all faiths and cultures.
