Multi-National Force-Iraq Procures Desktop Alert in COB Speicher For Net-Centric Emergency Mass Notification

Desktop Alert's Network-centric Notification System Procured to Protect Troops in Harms Way

Chatham, N.J. (PRWEB) June 2, 2008 -- Desktop Alert, Inc., a leading provider in network-centric emergency notification systems being purchased by the U.S. Army today announced Desktop Alert has been procured for usage in Contingency Operating Base Speicher Iraq, to bolster force protection.

COB Speicher formerly FOB Speicher (Al Sahra Airfield under Saddam Hussein) is a US Army Contingency Operating Base. Previously a Forward Operating Base but reassigned as a COB because of its size. Installations are located near Tikrit in northern Iraq. The base is the location of the headquarters of the Multi-National Division, North, (MND-N). It is named after Scott Speicher, a U.S. Navy pilot who has been Missing In Action in Iraq since 1991 when his F/A-18 Hornet was shot down by an Iraqi Air Force MiG-25 Foxbat.

Network-centric warfare (NCW), now commonly called network-centric operations (NCO) translates into an information advantage, enabled in part by information technology, into a competitive war fighting advantage through the robust networking of well informed geographically dispersed forces. With desktop alert technology a robustly networked force improves information sharing. That information sharing enhances the quality of information and shared situational awareness. The shared situational awareness enables collaboration and self-synchronization, and enhances sustainability and speed of command and these benefits in turn, dramatically increase mission effectiveness.

"This announcement is a high point at Desktop Alert. The decision to use Desktop Alerts' products in battle zones for emergency communications by the Multi-National Forces in Iraq is further proof that Desktop Alerts' offerings are by far the most effective, compelling and highly affordable Enterprise-Class, Enterprise-Level Mass Notification solution in the marketplace." , said Howard Ryan, CEO and Founder of Desktop Alert Inc.
