Intertek is the only Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) in North America to offer Performance Testing, Safety Certification and Luminaire Distribution Photometry Services to the Lighting Industry.
Cortland, NY (PRWEB) June 3, 2008 -- Intertek (LSE: ITRK), a global leader in testing, inspection and certification services, announces an expansion of its photometric testing capabilities. The recent addition of a new High-Speed Type C Mirror Goniophotometer will allow Intertek to conduct Luminaire Distribution Photometry Testing of various lighting sources and fixtures including Lamps, Indoor Fixtures, Outdoor Fixtures, Roadway Lighting, Flood Lighting, and Solid-State Lighting products.
The addition of luminaire distribution photometry makes Intertek the only NRTL and independent lab in North America that can offer the lighting industry a total testing solution including product safety certification and performance photometry testing. Lighting manufacturers benefit by having one testing partner, speeding time-to-market and ultimately improving product performance and quality.
With the advent of new technologies such as Solid State Lighting (SSL) and Light Emitting Diode (LED), luminaire manufacturers are redesigning their products, and will be required by specifiers to supply photometric reports from independent testing labs.
This new capability enables Intertek to produce IESNA (Illuminating Engineering Society of North America) and CIE (International Commission on Illumination) Photometric Files for customers seeking photometric performance data for their products. Typical measurements include Candela Tabulation, Polar Candela Plots, Beam Spread, Zonal Lumen Output, Coefficient of Utilization Curves, and Total Efficiency. Testing may be conducted on a maximum luminaire size of 4 feet x 4 feet.
