Broadcaster with Passion for Horses is Honored as One of Kansas' "Extraordinary People"
The Topeka Capital-Journal features radio personality, Ernie Rodina, host of the Better Horses Radio Show.
Topeka, KS (PRWEB) June 5, 2008 -- In an article entitled "Blazing an information trail," written by Carolyn Kaberline, Ernie Rodina is honored as one of Topeka's "Extraordinary People." The February 17, 2008 article highlights the latest endeavors of Rodina, a full time manager for Purina Feeds, who has gained growing recognition for his newsletters and weekly radio program. As host of Better Horses Radio, Rodina, along with co-host, Dawn Dawson, provides equine wit and wisdom to listeners in Kansas, Missouri, Kentucky and Florida via the airwaves.
Rodina has a long history in the agriculture and horse industry and the Captial -Journal article notes that he's always had a passion for horses. As a retail business manager for Purina, he's worked hard to develop new dealers and encourage growth among his current dealers. Seeking to better inform his customers and support his business, Rodina began a newsletter nine years ago which, Kaberline writes, "has grown to the 48- to 54- page Better Horses newspaper published five times a year."
Three years ago, Rodina's Better Horses Radio show debuted on WIBW Radio. The show, along with his newsletter, supports Rodina's goal of helping people "take their horse experience to a higher level." As they move into their fourth year on the air, Rodina, and his co-host, Dawn Dawson, enjoy a following among horse-people and non-horse-people alike. "We've gone farther than we ever expected," says Rodina.
Rodina credits part of his show's success with the informative, yet playful format, as well as with thoughtfulness that goes into each week's broadcast. The article notes that he "always tries to remember there's a wide audience when talking to horse people. Some are interested in training and showing their horses, while others simply enjoy brushing them or trail riding." Whatever the listeners' level of horse interest, Rodina aims to please, including interviews from a wide variety of people in the horse industry including local trainers, Veterinarians, and Industry Leaders, as well as music and general entertainment and merriment.
