TelcoBridges Award Winning Platform Enables Companies To "Go Green" by Substantially Reducing Power Requirements

Optimized modular architecture provides the industry's greatest balance of performance, density and power efficiency.

Montreal, Canada (PRWEB) July 2, 2008 -- TelcoBridges™ Inc., the preferred hardware and software supplier for telecom solution developers, today launched a campaign to promote the efficiency and power-saving capabilities of its award-winning telecom platforms.

TelcoBridges' platforms, which are deployed by some of the largest operators in the world, feature an award winning, pre-packaged media gateway, with switching, signaling and transcoding capabilities that support all of today's most popular voice, video and social networking applications. TelcoBridges' unique, modular architecture offers a powerful combination of performance, density and power efficiency, with each 1U form-factor module capable of supporting up to 2,048 universal VoIP channels, requiring less than 0.06 watts of power per channel. This represents a power savings of more than 30-percent over the next closest competitor, and as much as an 80-percent power savings over some competitive solutions. Each TelcoBridges unit features AC or DC inputs with redundant hot swap and load balanced power supply options, including self-contained environmental monitoring capabilities to ensure reliability, without requiring excessive power to deliver performance.

"The desire to conserve energy is becoming a global priority, and systems that can boost energy efficiency are in high demand," said Eric Morin, Director of Engineering at TelcoBridges. "Telecom solution providers need to play a more active role in helping companies 'go green' by addressing power and cooling issues in the data center, while operating more efficiently and reducing their overall energy consumption. Telecom platforms like TelcoBridges' provide such efficiency benefits without forcing companies to compromise on performance."

A recent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) report states that data centers in the United States alone consume more than 60 billion kWh of energy each year, at an annual cost of $4.5 billion. These figures, which have doubled from the year 2000, are required to support today's bandwidth-intensive voice, video, and data-based applications. The power consumed in today's data centers adds heat and emissions into the atmosphere, which hasten climate change, and cost companies millions of dollars in the process. Additional studies by many of today's largest corporations agree that a 10-20% reduction in power consumption from new IT equipment is required.

"One of our design priorities of the Tmedia platform was to eliminate the trade-off between efficiency and performance. Through a state-of-the-art modular architecture, and optimized power and cooling, we offer a solution that helps customers significantly reduce energy consumption, while still having the capacity and reliability needed to support a growing user base," added Gaetan Campeau, President of TelcoBridges. "The combination of performance, capacity and efficiency is one of the key reasons why some of the world's largest operators run their businesses on TelcoBridges' hardware."

In addition to saving power in the data center, TelcoBridges' telecom platform helps organizations build and deploy the enabling technologies needed to work virtually, and reduce energy-consuming travel requirements. TelcoBridges' platforms support a host of telecommuting options - such as unified communications, follow-me capabilities, video conferencing applications, voice, text, data sharing, presence information and IM, all over mobile and remote office connections - to enable people to be productive without traveling.
